THURSDAY’S WIDOWS

They say if you love someone, you sacrifice for them and this series had me convinced at first. I greatly commend the producers for having my full attention from it’s onset through the suspense created in the series.

Episode one had me guessing, maybe it’s one of those serial killer series or murder cases that are birthed by envy. A closer look on episode two, the Scaglia family gave me a hint of what might have happened on the said 26th of December. But how they all got there, who died, who was left, and why? I couldn’t tell.

Of all the guys, I felt Tano’s pain and could see his craving for appreciation from his family atleast even once. I can’t say his plan was right, but in his mind it’s all he could do to remain relevant in his family’s life. Teresa’s language was money and a lavish lifestyle. I didn’t notice a point where she stopped to see the pain in Tano’s eyes, rather, it was about “when will it be done”, “where we should live” etc but maybe, that was what love was in the Scaglia family.

Can we call Tano’s plan a sacrifice out of love? Well, I can’t vouch for all of them. Especially Gustavo, his own isn’t even a matter of sacrifice but regret and disbelief of Carla’s departure.

My top 3 highlights of the series

1. Lala and her many kids

With the money they had, it all looked cute and adorable because why not? But going from separate nannies to almost none with a crashing bank account and pending promises, it makes it easier to understand Martin De la Luna’s point of view when he decided to be part of Tano’s plan.

2. Carla

I appreciated her exit from her marriage with Gustavo Maldonado and wasn’t like the cases where people persevere because of what is offered vs what they lack. She wasn’t blinded by the luxury and knew what she deserved.

3. Roni

Talk about accepting defeat before pursuit. I agree life matters more than money but despite showing no effort, he’s quick to reject the plan and still does nothing about their financial situation thereafter. What got me more, is how he handled the news of Mavi’s affair. Like can you even fight for anything in this life?

All in all, if I’m to rate the series out of 10, I’d give an 8.5. Despite not relating with the ‘rich people issues’ highlighted in the series, I loved the idea behind it and how the story unfolds.
